Films To See, Those You Might Have Missed In 2009

December is well upon us, and a few major films that have not released but there are many more you might have missed that are either generating a ton of awards buzz as a film or have must-see performances. Below is a list of a few of those key films and when to expect some to hit DVD, theaters, or those already there.

Hittin’ Homes: ‘Watchmen’ Ultimate Cut Releases Today!

Over a month ago, I detailed the release date and pricing for Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen” Ultimate Cut. Since I took a leave of absence, it appears that I missed the news that the release date had changed from Nov. 3 to Nov. 10. Why? I have yet to discover the cause, but apparently those who pre-ordered on Amazon were sent an email notifying them of the delay no later than Nov. 1. A little short notice, but it is finally here.

I should also note that I had no concrete evidence of whether or not you could play the director’s cut version of the film using this edition. Now, although I cannot confirm nor deny it either way at this point (it came out today, after all), it seems likely that it won’t have that ability.

Now, for those that saw the extremely high MSRP prices ($59.99 for the Blu-ray; $43.98 for DVD) two months ago, you may have noticed the price has come down. If you hadn’t noticed, well, here are some quick prices I found, and I must say I have never seen this kind of price variation at so many retailers:

$28.99 for the DVD and $39.49 for the Blu-ray at Amazon

$34.79 for the DVD and $45.49 for the Blu-ray at Target

$39.99 for the DVD and $49.99 for the Blu-ray at Best Buy
