Interestin’ News: Gyllenhaal, Duncan Jones To Make ‘Source Code’, Delays ‘Mute’

Duncan-Jones-at-the-premi-001Variety is reporting that Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to star in director Duncan Jones new film “Source Code”. Jones broke out earlier this year with his directorial debut film “Moon” starring Sam Rockwell on, you guessed it, the moon. The director is also the son of famed music-artist David Bowie and has gathered quite a following.

Gyllenhaal would play, according to Variety, “a soldier (Colter) who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a harrowing train bombing until he can determine who is responsible for it.”

While the original script was written by Ben Ripley (“Species III”), it has been reworked by Billy Ray Cryus (Writer and director of the fantastic “Breach”).

With an expected first quarter production next year, this will delay “Mute”, a film Jones had been working out a script for to re-team him with Rockwell. ScriptShadow has a review of the script for “Mute” and while there are critiques, the mood overall is upbeat and it should have amazing visuals when and if made into a movie.
