Interestin’ News: Brolin, Damon In Talks For Coen’s ‘True Grit’

While replacing John Wayne is no easy task, let alone remaking one of the classic Westerns he starred in, the Coen brothers are making a great effort with their retelling of “True Grit”. Jeff Bridges has already been cast to replace Wayne as U.S. Marshall Rooster Cogburn. Meanwhile, Variety is reporting that Josh Brolin and Matt Damon are in discussions to also star as well.

Damon’s character, a lawman, would help Cogburn and a little girl track down her father’s killer, which would be played by Brolin. The casting would mean that the Coen’s are working with familiar talent, as both Bridges and Brolin have starred in separate films for the Coen’s. With the pic set to start shooting next March there is still plenty of time to continue bringing in the top-flight talent that the Coen’s attract, including filling the role of the young girl.
